This weed which predominates in the eastern areas of the country grows up to four meters tall. Sometimes it forms dense thickets with wide spreading branches. It is sometimes known as “parraffienbos” , a reference to its small especially when crushed.
We know that the Department of Water Affairs are concerned about Triffid Weed or Chromolaena as they have commissioned an advertising campaign ,with the use of billboards, to ask mororists to wash off their wheels when exiting current areas of infestation. We can only guess that they have established that this weed is spreading southward rapidly.
At exit Industries we have the answer for this pesky weed with our Exit model 3 which is a hand operated machine weighing in at about 7,5Kg’s. Although this weed grows up to four meters high it seems to have a single stem of less than 50mm and is therefore suited to a mechanised hand removal system. In thick bushy areas it will probably be best to consider the Exit Model 4 which is tractor mounted.
